As the Managing Member of Petry Engineering, Mr. Petry brings an extensive background in civil engineering, planning, and architecture to the team. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and is both a Registered Architect and Professional Planner in New Jersey. He also holds licenses as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania and is a Certified Municipal Engineer.
With more than 30 years of experience in planning, design and construction administration, Mike has been involved in a vast array of public and private sector projects. He has been instrumental in the evaluation and adaptive re-use of underutilized properties and has worked with several municipalities on parkland and athletic field improvements. His extensive experience in dealing with NJDEP on a variety of permitting issues has resulted in optimization of land values. He has served as an expert witness before Planning & Zoning Boards throughout New Jersey and has also served in similar capacities in arbitration and litigation cases.
In his spare time, Mike shares his knowledge of wine and food with friends and family. He and his wife, Nancy, live in Fairfield, and have begun to enjoy traveling since their three children are grown.
As a Member in Petry Engineering, Mr. Daly is an expert in the field of structural engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, NY and holds Professional Engineering licenses in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. With over 16 years of experience, Chris has the ability to provide a number of structural engineering services, including steel design, concrete design, timber (residential) framing design, and specialty design items. His vast engineering experience in various types of construction is instrumental in his ability to provide detailed evaluations of existing structures. Whether he is designing a single family home, a multi-floor complex, a retaining wall, or a gravity dam, Mr. Daly attacks each project with the same high level of detail and dedication.
Chris, his wife, and two children live in Ramsey, New Jersey where they enjoy outdoor activities, including biking, hiking, skiing, and camping.
As a founding member of Petry Traffic, Mr. Jahr brings over 30 years’ experience in Traffic and Transportation Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rutgers University and has earned his certifications as a Professional Transportation Planner and Traffic Signal Operations Specialist. During the course of his career, Mr. Jahr has provided Municipal Traffic Consulting services on Planning and Zoning Boards throughout the State and has served as an expert witness to the Superior Court of New Jersey. Additionally, he has also provided services to higher education clients including Princeton University, Middlesex County College, Rutgers University, and George Washington College (DC). His notable publications include: Truck Traffic and Their Impacts; JCP&L Utility Engineering (Contributor to Public ROW), and Mega Mall Development How Much Traffic Do They Generate?
In his spare time, John enjoys target shooting, building computers, and spending time with his son, Johnathan, and girlfriend, Sandra.
Mr. Shubeck brings over 30 years of experience in the application of emerging design technology to Engineering and Architectural consulting firms in the Tri-State Area and throughout the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, became one of the early adopters of Computer Aided Design in New Jersey, and drove the early use of technology throughout the design process.
Mr. Shubeck has held many positions throughout his career and has applied his unique experience in technology and design as a CADD Administrator, Regional IT Manager, and Director of IT, at small and large A/E firms. Other skills and experience that he brings to Petry Engineering include: 3D visualization, IT operations, data security, technology infrastructure design, and project management.
When not at work, Mike enjoys bike riding, gardening, and exploring his artistic interests as a church organist and Board Member of Mystic Vision Players. He and his wife Sue have two grown children and share a passion for fine dining, church and community involvement, and the theatre.
With more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Labriola is an expert Senior Environmental Scientist. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Rutgers University and a Master of Science in Biology from West Virginia University. He is a Society of Wetland Scientists Certified Professional Wetland Scientist and Certified Senior Ecologist by the Ecological Society of America and obtained his OSHA training in Construction Safety and Health. Joe’s wide-spread background includes specialized training in aquatic and terrestrial biological surveys, freshwater and tidal wetlands delineation, wildlife observation and conservation, and watershed management.
As a key scientist in our firm, Joe performs wetland delineations and coordinates environmental permitting through NJDEP. Additionally, he prepares Soil Conservation District applications and Municipal Environmental Impact Statements. He is instrumental in coordinating federal and state agency permitting, as well as developing wetlands, riparian zone, and tree mitigation and restoration plans. His extensive experience with multiple sectors of the environmental community in New Jersey aids in our successful completion of projects.
When not at work at Petry Engineering, Joe has been a long-term adjunct faculty member in the School of Natural Sciences at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan campus where he teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in the biological and environmental sciences. In addition, Joe has been a long-term commissioner of the City of Clifton Environmental Commission as well as a member of several non-profit environmental organizations and committees including The Nature Conservancy and the Torrey Botanical Society. His related leisure time activities include birding, gardening, fishing, and non-fiction reading.
With more than 50 years of experience in both land surveying and engineering, Mr. McCumsey has an exceptional career history ranging from drafting to designer, rodman to chief of surveying, inspector to resident engineer and as A/E coordinator and contract administrator. He is a Professional Land Surveyor in New Jersey and New York, and holds a Professional Engineer license in New Jersey. Jim is an expert in the field of roadway, tunnel and bridge surveying and design. He has been involved in virtually every aspect of survey, mapping, planning, project management, design and construction of tunnels, bridge replacement, and layout of horizontal and vertical roadway geometry for roadway and highway widening, construction staging, and shop drawing review. Jim has served as resident engineer for large interstate highway projects both within the United States and abroad on infrastructure improvement projects that total many hundreds of miles.
For our firm, Jim provides Quality Assurance and Quality Control to our infrastructure improvement projects. He provides a constructability review prior to the final issuance of the plans and is also responsible for overseeing the development of our specifications packages. His vast experience in construction period services allows our firm to draw on his expertise during both the design and construction phases of the work. Often contacted by outside firms, he serves as a special consultant on projects that require special detailing for construction or value engineering.
Mr. Mayer is a licensed, Professional Engineer in New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Florida. An avid learner, Jon graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He has continued his studies by earning a Master of Science Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from NJIT in 2010. He is an expert in the field of geotechnical engineering and has specific experience in the design and construction of specialty foundation systems. Jon brings more than 36 years’ experience to the project team. He has been responsible for the design of temporary bracing and support of excavation systems, supervised underwater structural investigations and evaluations, and has provided design oversight for various bridge and tunnel projects.
