The Manor Restaurant

West Orange, New Jersey

When the owners of one of New Jersey's premiere restaurants decided to renovate their facility, they turned to Petry Engineering for design expertise. The existing building had been continuously occupied for all previous renovations and additions, and this was to be no different. An elevator shaft needed to be located within the existing footprint, the lobby was to become a two-story space, and an addition was planned over part of the roof garden which overlooks the Essex County Reservation. The structural challenges included incorporating  a mixture of timber and steel framing techniques that spanned more than 60 years of the restaurant's history. Our team provided cost-effective solutions to the owners, working closely with both the architect and the construction managers to ensure the work could be completed in an efficient manner. The first phase of the project was completed in 2014, and the addition is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2015.
