Montclair, New Jersey
When a community church determined their building was too large to maintain, a local development group turned to Petry Engineering to provide assistance in their efforts to redevelop the property. The firm's services included survey, civil engineering design, geotechnical investigations, drainage improvements, and permitting. The project maintained the congregation in a portion of the building while converting the remaining building to office use. Our site design included an expansion of the parking area, lighting improvements, subsurface detention, and a series of retaining walls. We provided construction period services to ensure the civil engineering components were performed to the satisfaction of the owner. Ultimately, the project was awarded LEED Silver certification and won the following three awards: 2013 NJ Smart Growth Award for Creative Adaptive Re-Use, 2012 Downtown NJ Excellence Gold Award for Built Projects, and the Montclair Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Adaptive Re-Use.
