Slope Failure

10 NJSH Route 35

Middletown, New Jersey

Located immediately adjacent to the NJSH Route 35 crossing of the Navesink River, this 4-story office building and associated parking had been recently improved by our civil group. Shortly after completion, the surge from Superstorm Sandy scoured the banks of the river, affecting the lower limits of the completed parking lot. Valley National Bank, the owner of the building, contacted Petry Engineering to address the stabilization of the stream bank. Our environmental team prepared an analysis and contacted both NJDEP and Freehold SCD to ensure that the proper emergency procedures were followed. They prepared a stabilization plan, including a plan to revegetate the slope, and the crisis was resolved in short order.
